What Qualifies During Tax-Free Weekend?
New Mexico’s 2026 back-to-school Gross Receipts Tax Holiday begins on Friday, July 31, 2026, and ends Sunday, August 2, 2026. During this time, retailers are allowed to deduct the state Gross Receipts Tax on qualifying purchases, which means eligible items can be purchased tax-free.
Qualifying Technology Items
Qualifying desktop, laptop, tablet, or notebook computers priced up to $1,000 may be eligible for tax-free savings.
Related computer hardware, such as monitors, keyboards, mice, and similar items priced up to $500, may also qualify.
Eligibility is based on New Mexico Taxation & Revenue Department guidelines. Some exclusions may apply.
